FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Is the Lino Pin Roller suitable only for linocut, or can I use it for other printmaking techniques?

Our Lino Rubber Rollers are versatile and can be used across different printmaking methods. The size of this roller makes it suitable for lithography as well. Besides linocut, the roller is also excellent for woodcut, monotypes, lithography, drypoint, mezzotint, and more.

Do you have any tips on inks that work best with your rollers?

We recommend using oil-based inks with our lino roller press tools for the best results. Oil-based inks have a thicker consistency than water-based inks, which helps them adhere better to the rubber roller and then transfer to your block or plate. This creates richer and more vibrant colors when using a soft roller brayer or a hard rubber roller for linocut and other techniques.

What is the lifespan of your rollers?

Our artist rollers are designed for long-lasting use. They are made of high-quality NBR rubber, which is highly resistant to wear, oils, and chemicals. Depending on the printing technique and maintenance, a hand rubber roller can last for hundreds to even thousands of hours of use.

How do I clean the rollers after use?

Cleaning your lino roller is simple. After each use, we recommend wiping the roller with a dry cloth. For oil-based inks, wash the rubber roller with a solvent such as turpentine or mineral spirits. If you used only a small amount of ink, you can often roll the hand rubber roller on paper to remove the excess before washing.

What advantages do your rollers offer?

Our lino pin rollers offer excellent durability and smooth performance. Thanks to their solid construction, bearings for effortless rolling, and hard oak wood handles, they ensure consistent printing results every time. The thick NBR rubber provides lasting flexibility, making these rollers ideal for linocut as well as other printmaking methods, ensuring reliable and efficient performance whether you choose a soft roller brayer or a hard rubber roller.
