Holzschnittdruck
Holzschnitt ist eine Art Hochdruck, bei dem ein Künstler ein Bild in einen Holzblock ritzt, meist mit Hohleisen. Die ebenen Bereiche halten die Tinte und erzeugen den Abdruck, die ausgehöhlten Bereiche hingegen nicht. Der Block wird entlang der Holzmaserung geschnitten (im Gegensatz zum Holzstich, bei dem die Hirnholzmaserung verwendet wird). Die Tinte wird mit einer Farbwalze aufgetragen und bedeckt nur die erhabenen Bereiche, während die geschnitzten Bereiche frei bleiben.
